Now that takes guts

As I sit here contemplating my fate for the upcoming year in Japan, I find myself becoming a little self-indulgent and self-pitying. Yep, it's gonna be rough. I'm scared to death and I've started having wacky dreams and losing sleep. This afternoon, however, I took about an hour to read up on what the Sea to Sea folks have been up to. To my surprise and delight, I found my dearest Mary in several of the pictures, even though she is just one of the hundred cyclists on the tour!

Mary decided only a few weeks before the deadlines that she was going to undertake this goal-- Biking from Vancouver, BC to Halifax, NS. She finished her child and youth worker programme at Fanshawe College in December and nannied for a couple in London until June 16 when she graduated from the programme, went home to say goodbye to family and friends and flew to BC to begin her journey. What a way to transition from living in the student world to joining the "real world"! I'm so proud of her for having the courage and the strength to do this-- from what I've been reading, it hasn't always been an easy task!
As the group is heading into Chaplin, Saskatchewan today I wish them all of God's blessings and strength in the hot weather!
