Since Brian and I don't really buy snacks when we shop, I often find myself looking for snacky-type things to whip up in the kitchen. Last week, it was peanut butter cheesecake, which was delicious. I highly recommend the recipe. This week, I found a trail mix-type recipe. One problem - I didn't have the ingredients required... So, I substituted the Chex cereal with Cheerios, and the teddy grahams with Multi-Grain Cheerios, and the ramen noodles with All Bran and Rice Krispies. In the end, I used about 7 cups of various cereals that we have in the house. I also added in some peanuts. In the sauce, I added in corn syrup, brown sugar, peanut butter and cinnamon. The mid-way result is fabulous - I'm just waiting for it to finish baking, now! If we had them in the cupboard, I would have also added sesame seeds and sunflower seeds.
