Flash Flooding in Hamilton

I guess I should be thankful that even with all the rain that we had yesterday (and we had a lot of rain) our basement didn't leak anymore than it does during a regular rainstorm... Others were not so fortunate - the Hamilton Spectator reported that over 1,000 homes were flooded across Hamilton - both on the mountain and down the mountain. Even the Mayor's home flooded!

When I got up yesterday morning at 8:30 it was cloudy but the rain hadn't started yet. I puttered around in the back yard for a while, staring at my large green tomatoes, willing them to ripen.... Went back inside, and the rain came down shortly after. From 9am - 6pm we had at least 4, maybe 5 thunderstorms - or, perhaps the weather system was just circling overhead all day, who knows? In between each torrential storm the clouds broke and the sun peaked through for a few minutes - long enough for me to take the dog for a walk or run to the car to grab something. There was certainly water rushing down our street, but nothing like in the pictures below... The photos of the flooded highway are the Redhill Creek Expressway - Brian was on it right before it was closed and said that he's never seen anything like it.

All photos are courtesy of, and were taken by Hamilton residents.

That is insane!

Rod and Bec said... a matter of a few hours you totally changed your blog. How did that happen so quickly?
(Not that I routinely come back for more every few hours or anything like that....)

I'm speedy. And, I was bored over lunch! :)

...I'm getting the feeling that I should be posting more often so you won't have to read the same post over 52 times... !

And here I was complaining that all the storms missed us.
Those are crazy pictures! It doesn't look like somewhere in Ontario.

Love the new look!

Wow! Did you get affected by it at all? Did that new drainage system pay for itself??

good morning dudes. I'm actually into shoes and I was digging for that meticulous model. The prices due to the fact that the sneakers were about 180 pounds everwhere. But definitively I set this area selling them for half price. I in reality want these gucci sneakers. I will absolutely order those. what do you think?
