Last winter, a young Redeemer woman was diagnosed with leukemia. After a successful bone marrow transplant from her sister, she seemed to be on the mend as the cancer started to go into remission. Earlier this summer, it was back with a vengeance and she spent much of her time in an induced coma to allow her body to use all of its strength to fight back. This week, her condition has deteriorated to the point where her family made the difficult decision to take her off of her respirator yesterday afternoon. They say that no news is good news, and as of yet we have not received another update from our university chaplain. Please keep this young woman and her family in your prayers, as well as her former dormmates who are going about the business of keeping up with their day to day school work in the midst of this.

Any news? I mentioned it at my Mom-to-Mom group and we prayed for her and her family.

Thanks, Kirsten. The doctors say that the leukemia is back, and because she has a fungus growing in her lungs there is little that they can do. She has been breathing on her own now for over 24 hours, but the probability is that the leukemia will take her life within the next two weeks.

I passed along the update and she'll be in our prayers.
